I. - DIAGNOSIS OF THE CURRENT SITUATION

the cotton industry Benin constitutes the main source of growth in
the national economy for several reasons. The annual average production of cotton seed estimated at 350,000 tons represents about
70 billion CFA francs that are paid to more than 325,000 farmers, providing income
money to about 3 million people. Exports of cotton 80% attend the constitution of the
official export earnings. The sector represents 45% of tax revenues (duty-free) and contributes in terms
value for 13% to the formation of the national GDP. On the industrial level, the cotton is about 60%
of the industrial fabric of Benin through 18 ginning plants, 5 textile units, 3 factories crushing the seeds of
cotton and a hydrophilic cotton manufacturing plant.
